<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation film which ensures less variation of retardation due to environmental humidity and less light leak from a peripheral part of a screen, a polarizing plate using the film and a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation film is obtained by disposing an optically anisotropic layer containing a liquid crystal compound by coating on a cellulose acylate film, wherein hydroxyl groups of glucose units constituting the cellulose of the cellulose acylate film have been substituted by ≥2C acyl groups, and when the degree of substitution of hydroxyl groups in the 2-positions of the glucose units by the acyl groups is represented by DS2, the degree of substitution of hydroxyl groups in the 3-positions by the acyl groups by DS3 and the degree of substitution of hydroxyl groups in the 6-positions by the acyl groups by DS6, the expression (I): 2.0≤DS2+DS3+DS6≤3.0 and the expression (II): DS6/(DS2+DS3+DS6)≥0.315 are satisfied, and wherein the cellulose acylate fim has a thickness of 40-85 μm.
