PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible for a viewer to easily and surely recognize the effect that information (warning and notification) is given to the viewer, regarding a constitution of displaying an image in a part of viewer's visual field 30. SOLUTION: Light supplied from an illuminating optical system of an HMD is modulated by a display element, and directed as image light to a first area 31 as a part of viewer's visual field 30 through an eyepiece optical system. Meanwhile, a second area 32 as a part of viewer's visual field 30 is irradiated with information light emitted from an information light source. In this case, at least a part of the second area 32 is located outside the first area 31, and so, an area where only the information light is directed surely exists in the viewer's visual field 30. Consequently, the viewer can easily and surely recognize the information light in the aforesaid area, and even in such the state that the viewer does not view the image displayed in the first area 31 intently, the viewer can easily and surely recognize the effect that the information is given.
