PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber structure of a direct injection diesel engine capable of avoiding formation of black smoke even if exhaust gas recirculation quantity is increased. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the combustion chamber structure for the direct injection diesel engine injecting fuel inside of a cavity 10 formed on a crown part of a piston 9 and make the same ignite spontaneously. An outer curved surface part 24 having a concave curved surface toward a radial direction inward from a section closer to radial direction inside of the cavity, an inner curved surface part 25 having a concave curved surface dropping radial direction inward from lower end part whole circumference of an outer curved surface part 24 and continuing and rising, and a center cone 26 forming a flat cone shape toward a center of a piston 9 from an upper end part whole circumference of the inner curved surface part 25. Curvature of longitudinal cross section of the inner curved surface part 25 is set smaller than curvature of longitudinal cross section of the outer curved surface part 24.
