PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a triorganochlorosilane in high yield by simpler operation while environmentally considering so as not to cause environmental pollution with a solvent used or by-products by using a material in which toxicity does not exist or toxicity is low as the solvent, etc. SOLUTION: The method for producing the triorganochlorosilane represented by specific formula (II): (R<SP>1</SP>)(R<SP>2</SP>)(R<SP>3</SP>)SiCl (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>may mutually be same or different and they are each a 1-20C hydrocarbon group) comprises reacting a triorganohydrosilane represented by specific formula (I): (R<SP>1</SP>)(R<SP>2</SP>)(R<SP>3</SP>)SiH (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each the same as mentioned above) with chlorine in the presence of water.
