PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To irradiate read light and erase light having a different wavelength band from the read light on a radiation image detector by not using two types of light emitter. SOLUTION: Upon reading, a control means 60 controls an optical shutter layer 29 to set it to a read light transmission state of transmitting light having a wavelength band of 400 nm to 500 nm, and controls a plane-shaped light source 20 so that each minute EL light emitter 21 having a line shape emits light sequentially. Since white light emitted from the each minute EL light emitter 21 is shielded except light having the wavelength band of 400 nm to 500 nm upon transmitting through the optical shutter layer 29, it becomes read light L2 which is blue light, and enters an assisting linear electrode 15a of the radiation image detector 10. Upon erasing, the control means 60 controls the optical shutter layer 29 to set it to an erase light transmission state of almost transmitting light having a wavelength band of visible light, and further controls the plane-shaped light source 20, so that all the minute EL light emitters 21 are emitted at the same time, to emit white erase light L3.
