PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid suction device which is so constituted that a cap coupled to a slider is adequately brought into intimate contact with a recording head along with the movement of the slider, and a liquid jet device having the liquid suction device. SOLUTION: In a condition that a cap body 80 is not in contact with the liquid jet head 30 after the slider 63 starts its movement by the contact of the carriage, a first guide 31 is brought into contact with the cap body 80 without a gap in the vertical direction so that the cap body 80 is positioned in the vertical direction to closely approach the liquid jet head. In a condition that the cap body 80 is in contact with the liquid jet head 30 after the slider 63 further moves, a second guide 32 is brought into contact with the cap body 80 without a gap so that the horizontal attitude of the cap body 80 is adjusted, and then the cap body 80 is in intimate contact with the liquid jet head without a gap.
