PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a backlash of a head possibly occurring in movement of a carriage can be surely eliminated. SOLUTION: A head (L) 4A and a head (R) 4B are respectively mounted on a head holder (L) 7A and a head holder (R) 7B. The head holders (L) 7A, (R) 7B are fitted to two shafts (R) 15, (F) 16 which are fixed to a translator 8. The head holders (L) 7A, (R) 7B are urged by springs in order to eliminate the backlashes in all the directions X, Y, Z. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
