PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive manufacturing method capable of stably exhibiting a foreign matter intrusion prevention function when manufacturing a sliding elastic member 5 contacting to the member of a machine tool in a dustproof member for preventing the foreign matter from intruding into the clearance between the sliding surfaces of the machine tool. SOLUTION: Mold surfaces 23, 23 of the dies 21, 22 for forming the elastic member 5 are made to be shapes capable of forming an inclination part 7 on the elastic member 5. The foreign matters are prevented from intruding by bringing the tip end part 8 of the inclination part 7 into close contact with the sliding surface. An R-surface or an embossed surface is formed at the tip end part 8. In the dies 21, 22, a split face 24 is set at the position nearer the base part side by the distance d of 0.5 mm or more and 3.0 mm or less than the position (sign 28) corresponding to the tip end part 8 of the inclination part 7.
