It has greater thermal capacity in one region of its walls, which reinforces thermophoretic effects on particles in the flow, when the gas temperature rises. A trap comprises a first layer (6) and at least a further sheet in the form of a corrugated (4) or smooth layer. Flow may pass radially through the trap. Channels are conical.
