The method involves measuring a print image with the help of a sensor for directly measuring an actual value (11). The measured actual value is compared with a pre-press based target value (12). An input signal for typographic process (10) is determined based on deviations determined from the actual value and the target value. The pre-press based target value is determined from pre-press data (16) and under consideration of data (17) about characteristic of the sensor.
