<p>A metallic vapor discharge lamp, comprising an inner tube (14) having a pinch seal part (50) at its one end and formed in a tubular airtight container in which an arc tube (12) is stored, an outer tube (16) formed in a tubular shape closed at its one end and opened at its other end as a protective container put on the airtight container, and a base (18) supporting the inner tube (14) at the pinch seal part (50) and supporting the outer tube (16) at its opening end part. The pinch seal part (50) comprises a plate-like part (74) with a roughly uniform thickness and swelled parts (76) extended from the plate-like part (74) in the lateral direction and having a thickness larger than the thickness of the plate-like part (74). The base (18) comprises first and second support parts (66, 68) disposed oppositely to each other through a distance (D3) smaller than the thickness (D2) of the swelled parts (76). The inner tube (14) is so formed that the plate-like part (74) is supportedly fitted between these both support parts (66, 68).</p> |
