The production of controlled size and composition insoluble crystalline nanoparticles comprises single-stage fragmentation of a conducting solution formed from a mixture of two precursor solutions. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for the production of the above nanoparticles, where the apparatus employs solutions containing ions with a very low solubility product at ambient temperature and flowing concentrically to the base of a Taylor cone for turbulent mixing. The nanoparticles are suitable for deposition on industrial substrates.
