PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to change a logic easily and perform a printing with high quality while coping with two or more printing modes using one kind of logic circuit even for each printing mode. SOLUTION: A thermal printer for performing a printing by giving a heat energy to a recording medium is equipped with a heating element for giving the heating energy to the recording medium, a heating-element drive circuit which is provided in corresponding to the heating element and drives the heating element, and a printing control section 13 for giving a predetermined drive signal to the heating-element drive circuit based on printing pixel data input from the outside. The printing control section 13 is equipped with a setting register section 36 for memorizing a predetermined numerical group responding to a feeding pattern of the drive signal in the manner of being able to update, and the logic circuit section 34 which can dynamically update a logic operation formula for the printing pixel data according to the numerical group memorized in the setting register section 36 and can change the drive signal dynamically by following the feeding pattern.
