The method involves arranging batteries (10-30) in a switching configuration in such a manner that supply voltage (U2) is provided for an integrated starter/generator (70) attached to a pre-determined output bus. Temporary switching is made from one switching configuration into another switching configuration that provides supply voltage (U3) to the output bus in a pre-determined operational mode of the integrated starter/generator. The supply voltage (U3) is larger than the supply voltage (U2). An independent claim is also included for a device for voltage supply in a motor vehicle.
