The device has a set of imaging sensor units (2) arranged around a scene object (1) and comprising an imaging optics, where the sensor units generate a scene image. Each individual sensor unit differs in one of a visual detection criteria e.g. spectral sensitivity, from all other sensor units. A positioning device (5) is controlled by a control unit (6) and provided for positioning the object, such that an entire surface of the object is moved in a visual field of the sensor units. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting scene of an object.
