<p>An apparatus, system, method, and article for enhancing video sharpness are described. The apparatus may include a media processing node having a contrast enhancement module. The contrast enhancement module may receive an input image having multiple luminance regions, and create an output image using a luminance histogram and a luminance transfer function that produces a continuous luminance transfer curve having multiple segments, with each segment corresponding to one of the luminance regions.
