<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a color reproduction area and to improve display quality, regardless of a display element which is actuated in a time-division driving mode by appropriately regulating the diffraction wavelength range of RGB colors in a hologram optical element while giving consideration to the wavelength range of RGB colors of light emitted from a light source. <P>SOLUTION: When the wavelength range at half of the diffraction efficiency of each of the three primary colors in the hologram optical element is expressed by Δλ1 (Δλ1<SB>R</SB>, Δλ1<SB>G</SB>and Δλ1<SB>B</SB>) and the wavelength range at half of the light intensity of each of the three primary colors of the light emitted from the light source is expressed by Δλ2 (Δλ2<SB>R</SB>, Δλ2<SB>G</SB>and Δλ2<SB>B</SB>), the hologram optical element is manufactured so that Δλ1<Δλ2 may be established, that is, Δλ1<SB>R</SB><Δλ2<SB>R</SB>, Δλ1<SB>G</SB><Δλ2<SB>G</SB>and Δλ1<SB>B</SB><Δλ2<SB>B</SB>may be established with reference to each of the three primary colors. Consequently, with reference to each of RGB colors, only the light having the desired wavelength range among the light emitted from the light source can be diffracted by the hologram optical element and then directed to the pupil of the viewer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
