<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate intuitively and sensuously a zoom and a pan of a measuring instrument for performing very long data recording. <P>SOLUTION: A control knob 10 provided on a control panel 12 has an outside ring 14 and an inside knob 16. A zoom coefficient is controlled by the inside knob. The pan of a zoom box 30 in a main window 32 in a display showing a data record is controlled by the outside ring 14.
