PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent leak of a document using a design pattern when an image of an original is transmitted. SOLUTION: When the image of the original read by an image reading unit 304 is transmitted by a CCU 117 and a modem 118, the design pattern in the read image is recognized by a design recognition unit in reading, when a specific design is recognized, at least a part where the design exists is processed so that the content of the image can not be recognized by an image processing unit 312 and used for transmission. In addition, in a mode for starting transmission of the image during reading of the image, the image may be separately read for confirming the design about the same original before reading of the image for transmission and the design pattern may be recognized about the image read in the reading.
