PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce degradation in performance due to the operation for loading a retreated head on a disk face, in an image forming device that uses a hard disk device as a storage means for image data. SOLUTION: The device is controlled so that the head is moved on the disk face from a retreat position, before the occurrence of transfer operation of the image data to the hard disk device, together with the execution of a job when detecting the occurrence of the job; alternatively, the head is made to stand by, as it is, when the head is already on the disk face. For example, if the head is already loaded on the disk face, on the basis of a state that a start button of copying operation or the like is operated, a state where an execution request of a job is arrived from a network, and a state where the writing of the image data to a buffering image memory is started or the like; it is possible to immediately start data transfer, without causing time loss due to the loading since the head is already on the disk face, when actual access operation subsequently occurs.
