982,838. Labelling machines. W. PECHMANN. March 27, 1961 [March 28, 1960], No. 11168/61. Heading B8F. Relates to labelling machines in which labels fed from a magazine 11 by a rotating segment 12 are applied by a labelling drum 3 to bottles &c. fed on a conveyer 2. Each label 25 is applied by the drum 3 so that its middle portion only is attached to the bottle 26, leaving unattached front and rear edge portions 25a, 25b and after such application the bottle is clamped and guided between two conveyer belts 5, 6 driven at different speeds, so that the bottle 26 rotates anticlockwise and the front edge portion 25a of the label is rolled on to the bottle. The bottle 26 is then guided between the belt 5 and a stationary guide bar 21 so that the bottle is caused to rotate clockwise and the rear edge portion 25b of the label thus rolled on to the bottle. As shown, the guide bar 21 is arranged in a diverted portion of the belt 6 but two independent belts may be provided, one each side of the guide bar 21. A lever 17 pivoted on the shaft of the drum 3 is used to control the passage of the bottles 26. Alternatively the lever 17 may be pivoted on the shaft of a guide roller 23, in which case the guide bar 21 is slotted to permit passage of the prongs of the lever part 19. Similarly the belts 5, 6 may consist of spaced elements permitting the passage of the prongs 19. |
