Driver assistance system for automobiles has side detection system that switches to large range detection if overtaking

An automobile [2.2] is following a second vehicle [2.1] and intends to overtake. In the fast lane there is a third vehicle [2.3]. When the driver of the overtaking vehicle operates the direction indicator the side sensor system switch from a small [3.1] to large [3.2] range to detect any vehicle in the fast lane.
