The device has two thread bushes (10, 20) with external threads (12, 22), and an adjusting bush (30) with internal threads (31, 32), which are engaged with the external threads. The thread bush (10) is held by a part of a mantel of a cable reel in a torque proof manner, and the bush (20) is held by another part of the mantel of the reel in a torque proof manner. Each thread bush has an accommodation opening, which is dimensioned in such a manner that the opening forms a press fit with the parts of the mantle. The bushes are made of a plastic material such as polyamide 6.6. An independent claim is also included for a cable reel comprising an adjusting device.
