Use of granulate (A) based on calcium phosphate (I) for osteoinduction. In (A), crystalline (I) is embedded in a silicon dioxide xerogel matrix (B) with crystallite size about 10-2000 nm and granulate grain size about 1-1000 micron. The SiO 2content is 2-80, preferably 4-50, wt.% of the total mass of granular particles. An independent claim is included for use of a shaped article (C), made of (A), with SiO 2content 4-50wt.% and including interconnecting macropores of 100-3000 microns, for osteoinduction.
