OPTICAL TRANSMISSION DEVICE EQUIPPED WITH PLUGGABLE VARIABLE LIGHT ATTENUATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission device which is simple in configuration and capable of attenuating an input optical power into a prescribed range only if necessary, and restraining a transmission loss if attenuation is unnecessary.

SOLUTION: A variable optical attenuator is set pluggable in configuration. The pluggable variable optical attenuator is equipped with an optical connector which serves as an optical signal interface and an electric signal connector that receives electrical signals specifying a control volume which feedback-controls an attenuation volume, and controls an attenuation volume corresponding to the input optical power of an optical transmission board. A pluggable light through-member of the same shape as the pluggable variable optical attenuator is prepared.
