The invention relates to a master cylinder assembly (10) for a hydraulic motor vehicle brake system, comprising: a housing (12) inside of which a location opening (14) is provided that extends along a longitudinal axis A; a primary piston (18), which enters the location opening (14), and; a secondary piston (32) placed inside the housing (12). The primary piston (18) delimits a primary pressure chamber (54) and the secondary piston (32) delimits a secondary pressure chamber (56). The primary piston (18) can be axially displaced relative to the housing (12) by means of an actuating force. This master cylinder assembly (10) is characterized in that: the primary piston (18) has an inside opening (34) in which the secondary piston (32) is accommodated in a manner that enables it be displaced, the secondary pressure chamber (56) being situated in the inside opening (34), and; the secondary piston (32), following an axial displacement of the primary piston (18), displaces relative to the secondary piston (32) and into the inside opening (34).
