The invention relates to a multi-cylinder, dry-running piston compressor for producing compressed air, said compressor having a crank case (1), in which a crankshaft (2) is rotatably mounted. A number of connecting rods (3a, 3b), said number corresponding to the number of pistons (5a, 5b) and assigned cylinders (6a, 6b), are mounted on said shaft so that they can rotate in opposite directions to one another. The compressor is equipped with elements for producing a cooling air flow that traverses the interior of the crank case (1) as a result of a pump effect that is generated by the displacement cycle of the pistons (5a, 5b). According to the invention, to support the pump effect, each piston (5a, 5b) operates in its own chamber (10a, 10b), which is created by separation elements (1) that are located in the crank case and surround the crank shaft (2), thus producing different pressure ratios in the chambers (10a, 10b). |
