The invention relates to a method for defining a reference system between the recording of image data which displays a patient jaw (6) and is collected by means of an image producing method and a treatment template which is movably fixed to the patient's teeth in a defined position during a surgical intervention and is provided with a tool-guiding structure, consisting in providing markers on the treatment template, in displaying said markers by means of the image producing method, in defining a reference system, in applying a template blank (13) provided with the markers (16) to at least one tooth and/or the patient's jaw in a treatable area by means of a hardenable impression material (19), in recording the image data by means of applied template blank, in removing said template blank together with the hardened impression material which is particularly break-resistant and fixed to a treatment device, in introducing a required guiding structure in the template blank by means of the treating device tools and in displacing said tools according to a planning applied to image data.
