摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapered roller bearing and a vehicular pinion shaft supporting device capable of reducing rotation torque while restraining variation of the imparted pre-load. <P>SOLUTION: When the arithmetic mean roughness of a large end face of a tapered roller as the surface roughness is &sigma;1 and the arithmetic mean roughness of a large flange face of the inner ring as the surface roughness is &sigma;2, &sigma;1 is equal to or more than 0.04 &mu;m, and the composite roughness &sigma; represented by a square root of a total sum of a square value of &sigma;1 and a square value of &sigma;2 is set to be equal to or lower than 0.17 &mu;m. Further, crowning is applied to respective raceway surfaces of the outer ring and the inner ring and a rolling surface of the tapered roller, and a total crowning amount is set to be equal to or more than 50 &mu;m, an outer ring crowning rate is set to be 40% or more, and a roller crowning rate is set to be 20% or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
