<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a dictionary according to the level of understanding of a player, in a game program for playing a game displaying a picture screen and a sentence. <P>SOLUTION: The picture screen and the sentence are displayed on a display 103 so that a lexical unit given a dictionary reference function is visually discriminated from the other lexical unit. In response to the select operation of the player, the dictionary data 103B having the dictionary contents of the lexical unit is referred by the lexical unit, and the dictionary contents of the referred lexical unit are displayed on the display 102. Therefore, according to the level of understanding of the player, the game is made to go ahead, and further according to the play style of the player, the game can be made to go ahead. Since the dictionary reference is provided, the amount of sentences to be displayed can be decreased as a whole so that tempo of the game can be remarkably improved.
