PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method and a processing apparatus for a planographic printing plate, by which a planographic printing plate having a photopolymerizable photosensitive layer and using a high definition screen for image exposure can be developed for a long period of time without causing an image defect such as process irregularity. SOLUTION: The processing method for a planographic printing plate comprises exposing a photosensitive planographic printing plate having a photopolymerizable photosensitive layer on a support to laser light and then developing the photosensitive planographic printing plate in a developing unit 50 storing a developing liquid, wherein in the step of developing the photosensitive planographic printing plate in the developing unit after the laser exposure, the surface of the photosensitive planographic printing plate 12 is rubbed with a rubbing member 141 in a period from 10 seconds to 50 seconds after starting to immerse the plate 12 in the developing liquid of the developing unit 50, and this results in stable processing free from an image defect for a long period of time with less process irregularity.
