PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe dwarfing agent and a method for dwarfing plants using the dwarfing agent. SOLUTION: The dwarfing agent for plants comprises as an effective ingredient at least one compound selected from the group consisting of theobroxide and its analogues. The method for dwarfing plants comprises supplying plants with water that contains at least one compound selected from the group consisting of theobroxide and its analogues.
