PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smooth insertion of a tray on a guide means into a printer without giving ill effects to the attitude of a tray guide. SOLUTION: A discharge roller 40 and a stacker 13 are provided on the downstream side of a recording head, and a thrust roller 78 is provided on the downstream side of the discharge roller 40. The thrust roller 78 is displaced between a thrust position of thrusting the tray 90 toward a discharge driving roller 41 and a non-thrust position of leaving the tray 90 by a roller position change-over means 5. When the tray 90 on the stacker 13 is inserted into the discharge driving roller 41, after the front end of the tray 90 reaches the discharge driving roller 41, the thrust roller 78 thrusts the tray 90, thereby preventing the collision of the front end of the tray 90 with the discharge driving roller 41 without giving ill effects to the attitude of the stacker 13.
