Biaxially-oriented food casing made from a thermoplastic mixture containing (A) an aliphatic polyamide and/or copolyamide and (B) starch, in which (B) comprises microgranulated starch in amounts of 3-40 wt% and the casing shows a permeability to phenol of 220-400 g/m2>/day.
