PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method where, even in the case of a high alloy steel in which a solid-liquid coexistent temperature range is wide and surface cracking is easy to be generated, the fracture of solidified shells is prevented, and a slab having satisfactory surface quality can be produced. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for a high alloy steel in which the total content of Ni and Cr is≥40 mass%, and also, a solid-liquid coexistent temperature range is≥70°C. By using mold flux satisfying the relation expressed by an inequality: (1)η≤10/(T<SB>L</SB>-T<SB>S</SB>); casting is performed at a casting rate of <0.6 m/min; wherein,ηis the viscosity (Pa s) at 1,300°C in molten mold flux; T<SB>L</SB>is the liquidus temperature (°C) of the high alloy steel; and T<SB>S</SB>is the solidus temperature (°C) of the high alloy steel.
