An information sharing system is provided in which shared information in each node can be updated without putting an excessive load on a particular device such as a server. This system comprises a data receiving means that receives data that has version information and is sent from a node connected to a node of interest, a version checking means that compares the version information in the received data with that in the shared information stored in the node of interest and at least determines whether or not the version of the shared information in the node of interest is older than that of the shared information stored in the other node, and a shared information updating means that, if the version of the shared information in the node of interest is determined to be old by the version checking means, acquires the shared information from the other node whose shared information is a newer version than that of the shared information in the node of interest and updates the shared information in the node of interest.
