Disclosed is an agent for reducing a harmful effect of a herbicide, which is quite suitable for reducing a harmful effect of a herbicide against a cultivated plant without deteriorating the herbicidal effect of the herbicide. An agent for reducing a harmful effect of a herbicide comprising a phenylsulfonylcarbamate derivative represented by the general formula (I) or a salt thereof a an active ingredient: [I] wherein R<SUP>1</SUP> represents a hydrogen atom, a C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>6</SUB> alkyl group or any other substituent recited in the description; R<SUP>2</SUP> represents a hydrogen atom, a C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>12</SUB> alkyl group or any other substituent recited in the description; R<SUP>3</SUP> represents a hydrogen atom, a C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>6</SUB> alkyl group or any other substituent recited in the description; Y represents a halogen atom, a nitro group or any other substituent recited in the description; R<SUP>4</SUP> and R<SUP>5</SUP> independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>6</SUB> alkyl group; n represents an integer of 0 to 4; and X and Z independently represent an oxygen or sulfur atom.
