<p>The present invention is related to the use of alkylidene pyrazolidinedione derivatives of formula (I) for the treatment and/or prevention of diabetes type I and/or II, impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In particular, the present invention is related to the use of alkylidene pyrazolidinedione derivatives of formula (I) to modulate, notably to inhibit the activity of PTPs, in particular PTP1B, TC-PTP, SHP and GLEPP-1. The present invention is furthermore related to novel alkylidene pyrazolidinedione derivatives.
