An apparatus for compensating brightness of a liquid crystal display device is provided to determine errors of the liquid crystal display device correctly by uniformly adjusting brightness of a sub pixel acquired in a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) camera. An apparatus for compensating brightness of a liquid crystal display device includes a backlight, a color filter, a photographing unit, and a brightness adjusting unit. The color filter has red, green, and blue sub pixels in one pixel. The photographing unit has sensitivity so that the brightness of each sub pixel of the color filter is outputted differently. The brightness adjusting unit filters an output beam of the backlight so that the brightness of each sub pixel photographed in the photographing unit is adjusted to be the same with each other. The brightness adjusting unit is installed on an upper part of the backlight of the liquid crystal display device. The brightness adjusting unit has a filtering characteristic which compensates the sensitivity of the photographing unit.
