Flow control in downhole sample testing

A technique that is usable with a well (8) includes communicating fluid from the well into a downhole chamber (60) in connection with a well testing operation. The technique includes monitoring a downhole parameter that is responsive to the communication to determine when to close the chamber. The parameter may relate to a pressure reading or a signature of a mathematical transform. The fluid flow may be controlled by a valve (50).
