<p>A process comprises the steps of passing a product to be scrapped through a shredding machine to shred the product into small pieces, from which some reusable pieces are recovered, and mixing or coating the remaining waste with a material to at least partially encapsulate it, thereby forming a composite material. The encapsulating material may be an adhesive or adherent foam. A strengthening material, preferably of fibrous form, may be entrained in a spray of the encapsulating material added during the mixing or coating step. The composite material is typically moulded, rolled, or extruded into sheet form prior to curing. Metal foil may be applied to one or both sides of the composite sheet to form an insulation panel. A method of scrapping a vehicle comprising the process is also disclosed.</p> |
