摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel time sharing millimeter wave transceiver and a millimeter wave frequency translator by developing a high-performance millimeter wave front end both for transmission and reception with a simple structure by using an NRD guide. <P>SOLUTION: The millimeter wave front end is constituted by connecting an antenna 4 to a port (1) in a 3dB combiner 3, a Schottky Barrier Diode pair 5 of two Schottky Barrier Diodes in Fig. 9 to a pair of ports (2) and (3), and a Gunn oscillator mounting a Gunn diodes 6 shown in Fig. 8 to a port (4). Then, the oscillation output of the Gunn oscillator is equally divided by the 3dB combiner 3 to enter the pair of Schottky Barrier Diodes 5. A signal pulse train is applied to the Schottky Barrier Diode pair 5. When the pulse is on, millimeter waves are rectified by a diode and are absorbed by an external resistor. When the pulse is off, the Schottky Barrier Diode pair 5 does not react, the millimeter waves are reflected, pass through the 3 dB combiner again for synthesis, and is transmitted from the antenna 4 in the port (4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
