METHOD FOR PREPARING OF FRESH-CUT SPECIAL-PURPOSE ONION FOR STORAGE

FIELD: agriculture and food-processing industry, in particular, preparing of fresh-cut bulb onion for storage for further usage thereof as food in spacecraft. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves sterilizing distilled water, gauze cloths and smoking paper; preparing 70%-solution of ethyl alcohol based on sterilized distilled water; inspecting bulb onion; washing in sweet running water; drying at temperature of 35±5 C until residual moisture content of upper scale is 18-20%; removing loosely covering bract scales; cutting-off neck portion; cleaning bottom portion; wiping each onion bulb with gauze cloth wetted in ethyl alcohol solution; exposing onion bulbs to ultraviolet radiation at opposite sides thereof during 30 min at radiation power of 1.5-2.5 W/m3; packaging each onion bulb under aseptic conditions into smoking paper and laying packages in one layer within sterile polymeric trays. ^ EFFECT: prolonged storage life of bulb onion fit for further consumption as food in spacecraft.
