A system and a method for removing a red tide within a short time by intensively electrolyzing seawater or fresh water, thereby generating a large amount of oxidants including residual chlorine such as hypochlorous acid(HOCl) within a short time are provided. A system for removing a red tide in seawater(20) and fresh water comprises: an electrode part(130) which is comprised of a negative electrode part and a positive electrode part spaced from the negative electrode part, and is immersed into water; and a power source supply part for supplying a DC power source to the electrode part, wherein bacilli, bacteria, microorganisms and algae that cause the red tide are annihilated by oxidants including residual chlorine generated by applying the DC power source from the power source supply part to the electrode part, thereby electrolyzing the water on the periphery of the electrode part. The system comprises red tide removal modules(100) connected to one another by power source supply lines(121,122). The red tide removal modules comprise: a case(110) comprising a rectangular frame(111), a plate-like bottom plate, and meshes(113) formed on faces of the frame; an electrode part(130) for generating oxidants(190); and a buoy(140) connected to the case by a connection line(114). |
