The equipment has a computer (20) and a pneumatic unit (22) integrated to a case (10) and supported against a lateral door (12) of a vehicle. The computer is connected to a lateral impact detection unit (24) comprising an accelerometer. The door is movable between a closed position in which the door is extended in an opening and an open position in which the door is separated from the case. The computer and the unit drive the door in movement towards the open position so as to hold the door in a position remote from a seat (16).
