Piperazine derivatives and their use as serotonin reuptake inhibitors or as neurokinin antagonists

Piperazine derivatives of formula (I) and their optical isomers, and acid addition salts are disclosed, wherein the variables are as defined in the specification. These piperazine derivatives are suitable for use as serotonin reuptake inhibitors or as neurokinin (NK1) antagonists, and they can be used for the treatment of a condition selected from depressive states, anxiety states, impulsive disorders, aggressive behaviours, drug abuse, obesity and appetite disorders, pain and inflammation, dementias, psychotic states, disturbances of chronobiological rhythms, nausea and gastrointestinal disorders.
