A coupling part 1 has a flange 8 and includes a sealing ring 11 which forms a gas-tight connection with a valve-operating member 20 in a coupling part 2, and a valve 13 capable of closure by a spring 12 and/or gas pressure. Upon interconnection of the parts by sliding the flange 8 transversely into the recess 32 of the part 2, rotation of the cam 27 by handle 28 to a first position causes the member 20 to move axially into the part 1 thereby preventing disconnection of the parts, and further rotation of the cam causes the member 20 to then open the valve 13; gas from a container flows to radial pipe-connecting portion 24 which extends through a slot 23 in the wall of part 2.
