<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of obtaining subject images (rotating fingerprint images) of good picture quality that cover a wide range including the sides of a subject (e.g., finger) having a curved surface, regardless of the user's experiences and skills, and of reducing the processing load associated with reading action for the images, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus has a structure in which an image reading part DVC comprising a sensor panel 100 and a back light 200 stacked one on top of the other is tilted and fixed in place in such a manner as to have a predetermined angle α (certain angle other than 0°) with respect to a horizontal reference plane HP. As a finger FG placed on the image reading part DVC (sensor panel 100) is rotated in the outward direction of the body (rightward direction in the case of the right hand) from a horizontal state, the finger is moved along a detection surface DTC and fingerprint reading action is performed to obtain rotating fingerprint images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
