PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire air pressure monitoring system capable of automatically detecting the relationship between a tire ID number and a mounting position, and correctly issuing a warning against an air pressure drop. SOLUTION: The tire air pressure monitoring system is equipped with radio filed intensity sensors 1, 2 which are installed at different positions of a vehicle, and detect signal intensity of the signal from the tire sensors S1, S2, a signal receiving part 9 detecting an identification signal and a state signal of the signal from the tire sensors S1, S2, a signal intensity at the radio field intensity sensor 1, a signal intensity at the radio field intensity sensor 2, and a calculation part 10 wherein the identification signal and the state signal detected by the signal receiving part 9 are input. The calculation part 10 specifies the position of each tire by specifying the positions of tire sensors S1, S2 transmitting the identification signal and the state signal detected by the signal receiving part 9 based on the signal intensity at the radio field intensity sensor 1 and the signal intensity at the radio field intensity sensor 2, and monitors the state of each tire by the state signal for the specified tire.
