<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium that has two or more recording layers and can form a fine recording mark on any recording layer, and make precise reproduction as desired. <P>SOLUTION: This optical recording medium 10 has a first recording layer 14 and a second recording layer 16 that both can form recording marks 12 thicker than the surrounding space 11 by irradiation with a laser beam.
